Hi, I’m Jake!
I’m an actress, producer and artistic director of Tongue in Cheek Theater Productions
in New York City. You may have caught me in film, TV,
voice over and theater as the sensible young mom,
earnest teacher, and well-spoken professional.
In my down time, I love movies, baking, anything French,
working out, walking all over New York, and cartooning.
I grew up just outside of Boston, part of a big family
living in a purple house. My bohemian parents named me
Jake. Yep, it’s my given name.
From atop the dining room table, I belted “Tomorrow” from
Annie (my parents barely blinked an eye), and
began acting in local theater. At Smith College, I played a
wide variety of roles, from old men and children to grown
women. In Paris for my junior year, I even studied acting
with a couple of famous French actors. But I couldn’t wait
to move to New York City in 2000.
My first audition in New York City was for the title role
of The Little Prince. I toured the U.S. with short
blonde hair and came back to the city to earn my MFA in
acting from the Actors Studio Drama School.
After grad school, I discovered the joy of generating my
own work through producing, playwriting and web projects.
In 2006, I founded Tongue in Cheek to produce comedies that
make you think. I’ve performed in over a dozen TIC
productions to great reviews and sold-out audiences. As an
artistic director, I love to be a part of all sides of a
production, from casting, to designing the look and sounds
of the show, to rehearsals and hearing the audience laugh.
Thanks for checking me out and here’s to a magical 2012!
